Not a half minority but born and raised in the South has a blue car with BYU stickers watches all the football games (we've traveled to several including in Provo) and great grades, job, extra curriculars (two years she was the lead in school musical) etc. She's just going to go to the local university now for a year (I teach there so she does get 1/2 tuition which makes it slightly less then BYU) then she wants to go on a mission and see what happens from there. Still really wants to go to BYU eventually.

Her brother who never really did well in school went out Utah, did the flex GE thing did poorly then fell off the earth and went full woke/liberal. Now he's not even going to church or any university. He just works at CVS in Provo and won't come back so maybe that influenced her to not want to do the UVU thing but I think that is a good option too

Also my own path to BYU was similar. I was denied, went to a local JC and then a mission and got in afterward. So perhaps that helps her soften the blow.

As many are saying here, your daughter (and mine) will very likely get in eventually.
