BYU has to pay to play in the B12. BYU alumni know how to elite business
and the Marriott school is an excellent business school with well connected grads across the globe. Silicon Slopes has produced some very wealthy grads and companies in recent yrs. This should be our competitive advantage in NIL, instead of something we are shying away from. Pope looked super awkward in the press conference hemming and hawing about how NIL is not “the BYU way”. Well, why not? Why are we even trying to be an elite P5 program if we are not willing to play the financial games to be successful? This isn’t the old MWC or WAC. Time to step unto the modern era and use the incredible resources of the institution and alumni to figure out how to thrive in this new environment.
Seriously, we should be thrilled with this new NIL world. The increased revenue and opportunities that the B12 are going to bring the school and the local area is going to be amazing, if BYU is ready to buy in.
