In the first episode, Picard kisses Laris, who is the Romulan who has been living at his ranch with him. Their love for each other was developed mostly in season 2.

Obviously Seven of Nine being there, and you just know a little more about why she has grown so close to Picard through their adventures in S1 and S2.

Honestly, that's really all I can think of, except for one more which contains a spoiler for S3, so I'll give some space if you don't want to read it.

Picard makes a comment about knowing that he would NOT have been the same type of father that his own father was. In S2 they dig deep into Picard's past and you learn more about his father.
