and got lucky with getting Duncan. Most of their other key players were picked much lower in the draft.
They didn't have the worst record in the NBA the year they picked Duncan either. Plus, the draft odds were much better then for teams with worse records than they are now.
Parker was picked #28 and Ginobili was picked in the 2nd round. With their last championship, they added Kawhi Leonard who was picked #15.
Their key has been great player development.
