…we might take quite a few beatings next season and the season after but can take heart in a few things…we have a solid core group of young players returning next season (hopefully).
Look at the Princeton Tigers team this year, the seniors on this year’s team were freshman on a mediocre 14-13 Princeton team in 2019-20. They’ve stayed together and grown and developed into a very solid team and have continued to add young talent to that core group (Blake Peters, Caden Pierce, etc). They aren’t big or particularly athletic or long, their starting lineup runs 6’4”, 6’4”, 6’6”, 6’7” and 6’8”, but have great chemistry like our 2019-20 team and every player understands their roles.
This is what Pope talks about wanting to have, a team that grows old together and he now has the base for that with Hall, Toolson, Saunders, Fouss, AAA and Johnson with new young pieces coming like Wahlin and Chandler. Fans just need to be patient and let the process work. We lost a lot of really close games this year to teams who had more experience and veteran players who can pull together in the crunch and make plays. It takes time to develop that kind of chemistry. We’ll get there.
