Mike Honcho All-American
We recently merged teams (another group was brought under my manager), and one of the new guys hates WFH. He lives near
me and always asks if I want to carpool in so he can use the express lane.

At first I was fine with it - help speed up the new team assimilation and all that - but it’s been 3 months and I’ve realized… he does no work.

He always wants to go in so we can “whiteboard” various things, and we do, but then… nothing. He clearly thinks that the very act of whiteboarding and talking about work is, in and of itself, valuable.

Why does he hate WFH, you might ask? He just said on a Teams call “it’s too hard to whiteboard when everyone’s WFH.”

At this point I think I’m done carpooling in with him until he quits whiteboarding and actually contributes something.

I bet there are managers who would see all of his whiteboard scribbles and think “man that guy is productive” though
