I had a co-worker who had a Hyundai Sonata blow the engine and transmission (4 months apart), both under 100K miles. He said he took great care of it, and the engines are known for blowing up. The engine was replaced under a warranty, but the transmission he had to pay for.

Anyway, he decided to dump it. He really didn't want another Hyundai or Kia, but got one anyway, because his wife was enamored with the styling of the Kia Telluride.

Anyway. Since I heard his story, I have hesitated on Kia and Hyundai. I was thinking of picking one up for a high school / college kid, but might look elsewhere. Not sure about them at the moment. Apparently they are easy to steal too.
