my grandpa grew up in Zion Canyon, and when I was young he used to take us to all these secret hideouts etc... We hiked the east rim trail with him and he showed us a cave where he would sleep when he had to herd the cattle up that trail at age 12. His dad died when he was 10, so the cattle herding responsibility fell to him after his brother-in-law got a job in California.

It was crazy to see that cave and some of the engravings that he made when he was just a bit older than I was at that time.

There's no way I could find those places today.
