My mom had it for a few years before she passed and this is what we eventually learned, as well. There's zero chance
you'll convince them they're wrong. Just talk to them about it till they change the conversation or see if you can steer them to a different conversation.

But they can't see reason or logic at this point, when they're like that. It's hard because it's not the parent we're used to dealing with. It's one of the most heartbreaking things you can have happen with a loved one.
