I don't think BYU 'saved' Big12. But they definitely added more value than others.

Big12 could have expanded elsewhere geographically and probably maintained what they were going to get anyway. BYU added value to the Big12 and raised what they were going to get.

PAC screwed themselves, and quite frankly dont have much, if anything, to offer to poach P5 schools from outside the West.
