Personally I wouldn’t say they got lucky but bama is the better team
Throughout the year. Did OU get lucky beating bama by 30? No, but bama was a lot better throughout the year than OU.
That’s an extreme example and I do think head to head matchups are important and I like march madness, I just wish bama won so we could see the very best teams throughout the season play in the most meaningful games at the end. It’s their fault for losing though.
