Kalani seems to prefer hiring guys he is comfortable with, and knows already
That's not necessarily a bad thing...
But he never liked Detmer. Seemed thrilled to hire his old buddy from Utah, Aaron Roderick. This has worked out well.
And for the other Coordinator job, he kept Tuiaki on a long time, and only let him go once he could hire another former friend from Utah, Jay Hill.
So, it is what it is. If Jay Hill leaves any time soon for a head coaching job, I think our best bet would be to promote from within.

I don't believe he's coached anywhere at the collegiate level without Kalani. My guess is he doesn't stay in coaching.
