Aloha stadium was condemned and Hawaii is playing in a make shift stadium on campus at the Clarence T. C. Ching Athletics Complex. It seated 9,300 and apparently is up to 17,000. Such a small venue wouldn’t allow the school the chance to monetize having 7-8 PAC games on gate fees. The new Aloha stadium’s construction hasn’t been approved and is indefinitely delayed. Not having an extra 23-33K seats at average of $45 per ticket is an opportunity cost of $1M to $1.5M per game. That is a $8M to $12M per year with 8 games. Per context, Hawaii has athletic revenues of $45M per year post covid.
