I think he might be referring to thru-hiking the entire PCT. The issue with a year like this is that you need to be able
to hit the southern Sierra (starting at the Kern/Olancha area) early in the season to have any hope of getting through the Washington Cascades before the fall snowfall shuts down the northern portion of the PCT, and the southern Sierra is going to be buried under snow until at least late July. If you can't get through the southern Sierra until late July, you have no hope of getting through the Cascades before heavy snows bury it.
