Implant/crown is going to cost $3500, which also has failure rates to factor in
Are you saying the time value of the $900 you were to spend on a crown will pay for the implant? I’d like to invest where you’re investing lol Dentists typically treatment plan based on the odds. For every one tooth with a huge filling that ‘makes it’ without fracturing, we’ve seen 5-6 that fail. So lucky you fell on the lucky side with that one but for the most part Dentists are trying to have your best interest as a priority.

How many times has a patient come back upset because their tooth broke and …..”Dr you just put a filling in that tooth a couple years ago and now you say I need a $3500 implant?!? What a racket, Dentists are shady”

Needless to say they’ve forgotten that we recommended the best fix but they are the ones who declined that treatment and now the Dentist is held accountable 😉

Another issue is when insurance is involved and a filling is placed, if there is a failure within 3 yrs most insurances won’t cover a crown so who is left to pay the additional amount? It’s passed on to you the patient. Then who gets upset when he/she has toncover the full amount of the crown even though they have insurance coverage? The patient. and then who does the patient get upset with? The dentist Lol
