I’ve set my default to put my activities private. Part of this is to avoid riding or running harder than I should for a given workout (and part to avoid giving unnecessary data to the folks I race against). I pick and choose which activities I make public, and it has made Strava a better place for me.
And you’re 100% correct—nobody cares. If I see someone who normally runs in the low 6’ doing a workout in the mid 7’s, I really couldn’t care less. And if I see someone running in the 10’s, I’m just excited for them that they’re getting out.
