counterpoint on #1...
...we tend to play up well but have shown a tendency to play down to the level of an opponent as well. Kalani has shown he can prepare a team well for a big game (Tenn, USC x2, Utah, Wisc, ASU, UVa, etc) but totally drop the ball when playing lesser competition (Toledo, USF, Liberty, ECU x2, SDSU, CCU, Boise St in 2021, UAB and Hawaii just to name a few).

I think an addendum to point #2 could be good player development. This may be the best BYU staff in a long time for player development. KS and staff show a definite ability to take overlooked, unranked or low ranked recruits and coach them up into NFL talent. Guys like Allgeier, Milne, Freeland, Blaine Christensen, ZW, Chris Wilcox, Khyrese Tonga, are some good examples of the great work they're doing.

I am optimistic that the players will come into the season with a chip on their shoulders, being fixed in their minds with a determined resolution that they will not be subjected to the cellar of the Big12. I think they will exceed expectations.
