I played in a scramble last Saturday and felt like I played pretty well.
If I could pinpoint one thing, I’d say a lot had to do with confidence. On number one, it’s a 318 drivable par 4. I put it on the fringe and ended up birdieing the hole. So I felt good right out of the gate.
The bad shot I was talking about was a chunked 6 iron into the deep rough on my approach on a par 5 early in the round. That normally would have had me grinding through and second guessing but my next shot was a really good shot that left me with a 20 foot birdie and I eventually still ended up with a par.
I’m usually really good off the tee. But my miss is the occasional block right. I didn’t have one of those today. In fact, I only missed one fairway today and it’s because the ball ran through a dry spot and off.
I usually only have one part of my game that is really good. Today everything was good.
I fully expect to be in the mid 80s next round like I normally am.
