SIL helped raise / early training for service dogs
So she had them for around a year as puppies....
Our kids the first time they saw the dogs, of course went over to pet them. I told the kids don't... But SIL said "actually let them since part of the training for the dogs is to NOT respond and to stay on task".
I kind of felt bad since my kids where the "training" exercise for the dogs! It felt mean to do that to the dogs, but I guess that is necessary
Some of the dogs didn't make the program and SIL got to keep them. Best pets ever! Now they play with kids and are great!!

Was it wearing a working service dog vest? If it really was a service dog, it would have been distinguished as one

Not sure what this means. No one should be asking to play with a service animal while it’s working and you should
