Why go to a college sporting event when you are in Corvallis and you could be at the Denny's? Or if you are in Tucson and you could go see some cactus? Or you're in SLC and you could go to Wendover?
The VR option solves this. Now you can wear your VR at the Denny's or at the blackjack table in Wendover.
