A few things will always work against the PAC. One is the East US bias.

It’s like trying to explain why all the talented hockey players come from Canada, Nordic countries and Minnesota. People in PAC footprint just don’t care about football. The recruiting pool isn’t the same as the South. The state of Utah is an exception for the west.

The other problem is apathetic fans. 5 million people in Alabama provide a much larger CFB fanbase than the 40 million Californians. People in the West care about outdoor recreation, instagram and specialty soda shops. People in the Midwest and South care about college football, then family and then God. It’s just a culture difference that will always work against the PAC.
