Transition takes time - Middle of the conference is a reasonable expectation
We have a lot of unproven players we'll be relying on this season. We have a lot of guys with a history of injuries we'll be relying on this season. We have serious depth issues at the LB, DB, and Edge spots. We have no idea if we have the speed/athleticism to get consistent pressure on the QB, or if we have the size/toughness to consistently stop the run. We have a QB learning a new system, and a primary backup QB also learning a new system. We have a schedule that after the first two games... every week will be a true test. No more easy wins in the middle of the season to rest guys and get reps for younger players.

Not sure the 7-3 theory holds water... it's much tougher to beat good teams when you're playing them week in and week out.

At the end of the day much of our hopes probably ride on Slovis. If he can find a rhythm and play the kind of football that gets him drafted into the NFL, we may surprise some people. If he plays at an average level, a 6-6 season might even be a reach.
