I was with my wife driving her car and out of the blue a police officer behind me turned their lights on and pulled me over. I was pretty sure I hadn't done anything wrong so I was curious when she came up to my window.
She said, "The reason I pulled you over is because of your license plate. You aren't allowed to have black plates in Utah."
I told her that was true until recently when the black plate was approved. She looked dubious, and she asked where we got the plate. My wife said, "The DMV."
I explained further that we recently switched plates because of the new rule and that several others we know have as well.
I'll cut the officer a little slack. She was driving a Mountain Bike patrol truck and was wearing shorts as part of her uniform so I can understand why she wasn't completely up to speed. Of course, she probably should have stayed in her lane, figuratively, rather than pulling me over in the first place.
