Stay on the east side of you want to stay in a resort but get a car. 2 things
Must do and could spend all day doing, each.
1) Volcano National Park. ESPECIALLY, do the night hike to the erupting volcano. Truly incredible.
2) end of the World. There's a place you can Cliff jump but even better than that just a little farther south of that spot are incredible rock formations on the breaking surf. I could have done that for hours (though maybe no everyone could).
