In the animal kingdom the big dog doesn't stop attacking until the other dog rolls over and shows his belly. That's the way it should be in sports. If the inferior team wants the superior team to stop running up the score, the inferior team should stop trying to score first. Until they do, the superior team should just keep playing. When the loser obviously concedes - such as by pulling their starters or declining to throw the ball - only then should the winner do the same. Of course, the superior team may choose to pull back sooner - such as to avoid risk of injury - but the inferior team has no cause to complain if the superior team keeps burying them until the inferior team obviously concedes defeat.
