This thread got me thinking about the life lessons I’ve been teaching the
handful of kids I have (all 12 and under). I’ve found myself using the phrase, “life’s not fair” frequently lately—and it’s certainly not equal. Whether it was about the reffing of a youth sports game, tryouts for a sports team, friend drama, etc.

It’s just how it is. It doesn’t make swallowing the bitter pill at times easy and it doesn’t mean we can’t vent about it at times. But, if any adult (20 years or older) is seriously questioning the ‘unfairness’ of something, I don’t know what to tell you other than better now than later to get your head wrapped around the reality that “life isn’t fair.”

And, if you’re really wanting to get to the bottom of the ‘unfairness’, start by following the money trail or relationships and you’ll figure it out most of the time. Its just how things in this world work (whether in school, church, or play) and the quicker someone learns this lesson the faster they’re able to not let unfair things bother them so much and enjoy the times they are the beneficiaries of it too.
