By all appearances this person had just suffered a heart attack or stroke and was gray and unresponsive. Not breathing. Everyone, including the companion of this person backed away. Since no one else was doing anything I knelt down, tipped the persons head back to try and open the airway.
I remembered my CPR refresher from The Office and was mentally preparing myself to engage in CRP and mouth-to-mouth if necessary when the person gasped like a tidal wave crashing into the coast and sat up. This person looked around like they'd just come back from a 10 year coma, stood up, then ordered a sandwich like nothing had happened.
So, yeah, I answered "I would try it if no one else was able to."
