HC's that need strong assistants are NOT a winning plan for BYU. Ever. Kalani is more than enough on that.
LaVell was a far better FB mind than many people understand. He might've been a heavy delegator, but his fingers were everywhere on the team.

Yeah. But BYU can't afford them. We at least need an HC competent enough to go get the under-the-radar guys

Well it sure seems as though Dave Rose and Mark Pope "needed" strong assistants in Fueger, Burgess, and Pope.
