You usually want to see a Major conference head coach with HC experience at a mid-major before they make the jump to the next level. The BIGXII is at the highest tier in difficulty level, there’s going to almost certainly be a steep learning curve for a new head coach with no prior experience. I haven’t heard anything about Burgess that indicates he’s a prodigy that will excel despite this shortcoming; what am I missing?
