The reality is that he has an uphill climb. Insane expectations, his dream job, angry fans to win over, etc. Also saying nice things about BYU is no longer in his interest, and may be harmful to his case if he is going to recruit Chandler or anybody else.
I get wanting him to take a second and validate us. But I don’t think it’s a slap in the face if he doesn’t. It may mean that the “all-in” feelings he gave us all from time to time were not as heartfelt as we might imagine. But anyone who has worked at BYU knows it is not always an easy place to work and if you just got your dream job and you are not anxious to remind people about what is honestly an underwhelming record at BYU for a newly hired UK head coach, not bringing it up probably is the best decision.
