I do think he’s insecure. Doesn’t want UK fans to think he’s looking back.
I also think he has fully compartmentalized his time at BYU. Some of us are more capable of doing that than others.
I woke up this morning thinking about an embarrassing thing that happened 15 years ago. At least by compartmentalizing, Pope doesn’t have to worry about anything in his past and can laser focus on what’s ahead.
It’s weird, but it’s a gift in some ways.
