The “it’s a no brainer decision that you would make too so get over it.”
Nobody is saying he shouldn’t have taken it, it’s just shocking at the circumstances and dominos that needed to fall for it to happen. From Kentucky losing to Oakland to SMU, to Cal leaving UK, to BYU losing to Duquesne, to Scott Drew saying no, to the job finally falling into Pope’s lap.
You wish the circumstance was different such as BYU just made an elite 8 run, Pope is the hottest commodity in c-ball, and if leaves under that it’s a little easier to swallow, but nope. Not even 1 tournament win to hang our hat on. Losing our best players and proving the point that while BYU fans are first in class, the school will likely stay in the B range.
Then Pope just changes his twitter bio right away and can’t even say anything about BYU in his intro presser. Just gut wrenching.
I’ve always struggled with “blue bloods” and always have and always will cheer for the underdogs. You want catch me dead cheering for Kentucky going forward. Barf
