They’re growing in the books. When Elon took over Twitter, he fired 80 percent of the staff, and the company is humming along fine, and now many tech companies are firing unnecessary programmers. Snapchat, for example, had about 400 people working on their user interface, when their app has only 30-40 buttons.

That's the reason employment was up but productivity was down.
