He was the 4-5th option because he is seen as a young up and comer, unproven but someone that has the potential to be really good. I agree with that sentiment. He has the UK ties, none of the top candidates wanted the job and is a good salesman. It just happened to work out for him. He will have the chance to deliver or fail down to a mid or low level P4. Not a bad option for him.
