But probably won't if indications are he has sour feelings toward BYU. It is similar to Whitt and his decades-long buttheadeness over saying the letters BYU. I actively despise former BYU guys who treat the fans poorly and/or disregard the school and what it means, especially when we've cheered for them personally. In Whitt's case, it was always going to be an uphill climb with him being at Utah, but if he'd just show a bit of respect to the school where he played and the fans who cheered for him in the early 80s, I would respect him (grudgingly at times) a lot more.
That is why I await a feel-good statement from Pope. Yeah, yeah, I realize that he might not mean any of it a this point. But going on the record to say BYU and its fans meant something to him and his family opens the door to me treating him like a guy who is part of the coug family.
Petty on my end? Maybe.
