Let’s watch thorough this fictional scenario.

One, Utah is bad enough that they fire their coach. That means even less people are watching their games, and they have bad players.

Two, if the U of U wants Burgess, it means he is doing well at BYU. They won’t have interest if he is floundering at BYU.

If you are Burgess and BYU is doing relatively well in the Big 12, and the U of U has even less fans and bad players, why in the world would he want to take that job? At that point, BYU will be raking in probably 20-30% more in revenue, so Utah will not be able to outbid them for Burgess. They can’t throw money at him with a large buyout and salary to attract him.

So, people are worried he will give up a really good job at BYU to take part in a dumpster fire situation at Utah? Yeah, I’m not worried at all about him doing really well at BYU, and then just up and leave for the U of U. That makes zero sense.
