Maybe it's a legit narcissistic trait that he has.
Not saying he is a narcissist, but we all have 1 or 2 narcissistic traits. (Legit narcissists have at least 5) Sounds like that's one of his. Some traits are more damaging than others. He must have some real self centered tunnel vision.
