I thought NIL was going going to be generally a positive thing for college sports, but wiht the unregulated wild west
that it is is quite frankly robbing me of my fandom of the two sports that I loved so much, BYU football and basketball.

At least when I watch the NFL I know that the teams I root for have guys that will at elast be there for the length of their contract (most of the time). I would say the same thing about the NBA if I still watched that sport. and while the transfer portal has impacted college football, it seeoms that there is just naturally more continuity in that sport when it comes to rosters.

College basketball, however, is fast becoming a joke to me. It seems that just about every team has a few really important players who go into the portal every year. I don't blame the players. Most will never see a pro court, much less the NBA, so with the current state of tihngs in college sports, why wouldn't a kid transfer pick up a nice chunk of change in NIL money while he or she can.

But it doesn't mean that I or many like me will like it or stay interested. I don't put a whole ton of stock in loyalty, but the NIL situation is destroying any semblance of what I used to love. It makes absolutely ZERO sense that a college kid can sign an NLI, collect NIL money for a year, and then just leave without any consequences.
