high school recruits. Especially ones that go on missions. (I am glad they serve) It is just too long of a time to really expect much from them. I am not saying they will not be good players, but with NIL, transfer rules changed and coaching moves like they are teams change year to year.
Why get excited about a player who is 2-3 years away that will most likely transfer before playing at BYU. Even when they come back they may stay at BYU, not contribute much and then transfer. Have said this many many times, but college sports is broken and just not what it used to be.
Hopefully BYU's new coach can make some things happen this year, but I am expecting next to nothing this next season. That is what Pope leaving has done, it took away a potentially awesome and fun year next year.
