People think we won’t compete with UK for recruits, but I disagree. It will happen at the top of our board. Utah produces a lot of the type of recruit that can help in his offense. Pope has a built in advantage as a member that he’s going to use to lure some of these kids away.
It helps that he’s burned bridges in local AAU circles. But I know how AAU coaches work. I would be very surprised if fences don’t get mended quick. These guys will want the prestige that comes with having players recruited by a blue blood.
People are also looking at this through the lens of how coach Cal built his roster. He was talent above all else. Pope himself said it will be different.
