Kind of funny how being a fan of a team can cause tunnel vision.
I first picked up on it while watching BYU football. It always feels like in most games it's a real struggle to move the ball against the opposing defense, and we continually can't stop their run game or short passing game or whatever. Those other guys are just so tough. (checks scoreboard, BYU is winning by double digits) Obviously, my perception is often skewed when watching a BYU game. My team isn't faceless. I know their strengths and weaknesses, and I pick them apart better than I pick apart the opposing faceless team.

It's not secret, I'm a Braves fan. The start to the season has not been as good as hoped for.

- Spencer Strider lost for the season after just two starts.
- Max Fried opened with two pretty bad outings, rebounded for a great outing, and was back to, not quite mediocre, but certainly a lot less than expected from him yesterday.
- Acuna has, for him, been off to a very slow start at the plate. 17 games in and he finally cranks his first homer of the season.
- Sean Murphy has been on the IL for pretty much the entire season so far
- Olson and Riley are off to much slower HR paces vs last season.
- Albies is currently on the IL
- Bummer has been a bummer so far
- d'Arnaud picked up where he left off last season at the plate (which ain't good)

(checks standings, Braves currently have the best record in baseball)

Obviously there's been a lot that's gone right and I'm not overlooking those things, (Lopez dealing, Arcia and Kelenic hot at the plate, Ozuna hitting like it's a contract year, etc), but it's certainly easy sometimes to think my own team has it bad and yet (checks standings again, yep, Braves currently have the best record in baseball) other teams are obviously having their own issues, as well.

If Acuna, Olson, and Riley are simply saving all their homers for the post season instead of using them all up in the regular season like last year, I'll take that tradeoff.
