I will admit it was a bit tough and I lament was college currently is. Pope leaving and recruiting players is a product of NIL and the portal. Pope not spending a good amount of time saying good bye to the fanbase isn’t a big deal to me and is due to many different reasons.
I wish loyalty was in college sports. The divide I see isn’t caused by Pope. He is a small cog in a larger era that doesn’t reward loyalty. The transformation of college sports to me is sad. And you are right, many values that BYU has aren’t shared with this era of college sports.
To me, To ascribe some of his actions as sullying a family name is dramatic. It is petty and it lacks perspective. I do see it as sad to see the distance in values in the current Era and where BYU currently is.
