When I was at BYU I worked during the summer with HS and college kids in Utah County. I was surprised how many were not going to BYU. Overwhelmingly they said they didn't want to live at home while they were in college. So they chose to go to college outside Utah County.

USU, Ricks and other nearby but far enough to not be able to live at home were popular destinations.

I thought it was odd because I preferred BYU by so much over the other schools.
