I am always somewhat skeptical of the numbers thrown out when it comes to NIL. With that being said, I had heard a
rumor to this effect a few weeks before Pope's departure concerning Hall.
And while I hate what NIL has done to college sponrts, I don't blame these kids for asking for such money, and if they can get it, good for them. The reality is that the vast vast majority of the startes acress D1 will never play past D1 level. Some will go to Europe and about 30 per year make NBA rosters. So, getting this kind of money right now is understandable. It's not life changeing money but holy cow, to get that kind of cash when a kid is 19-21 years old is a great way to start out one's adult life.
