farther behind the rest of the world. Now NIL is fairly new, but it honestly isn't much different than AAU ball. It is all about me. Do what I can to get noticed whether that is taking a ton of shots or whatever. Team success in AAU ball matters much less than making coaches go "wow".
Now we have our primary feeder league that is worried much less about developing players, but more about about putting up numbers to make more money.
When will be the next time that the USA has the best basketball player in the world? I think it is going to be awhile. With the top four in the MVP this year coming from outside of the USA (add Embiid and that is likely the top 5 guys in the NBA today) and Wemby on his way it is crazy that we have gotten to this place. But in general, foreigners are further along in their development than Americans. They pass better, shoot better and are generally just more polished.
