I think, if true, that Saunders is getting the hard sell from Pope and Fueger to come to Kentucky, then it's because both of them as coaches know the value of a guy like Saunders to a team. Saunders was a big factor as the heart of this team in the past season. His energy and relentless motor just fueled passion among teammates and also fired up fans. He has good basketball skills but ELITE contribution as a hard worker and team player.

Coaches aren't done. A guy like that would be loved at Kentucky, just like he is here. I mean, I am not happy at all if Pope and Fueger are recruiting him hard, but it makes sense.

If he stays at BYU the next couple of seasons and realizes that, in doing so, he'll be playing at the highest level of college basketball (Kansas, Houston, Baylor, other Big 12 teams each week) with an NBA head-coach type of leader and mentor, and that he'll go down as an all-time favorite at BYU and not a footnote, then that would be the best outcome for us.

Money is temporary. Legacy and contribution are long term. Hope Saunders realizes that and comes back.
