Correct, but requiring them to pay money back if they leave after year 1
won't fly.

What if we have a 4-year NIL plan like this: Year 1 you get $100,000, and if you choose to stay, it escalates every year based on prior performance. For example, if you were a starter in year 1, your NIL doubles in year 2, with other built in additurs for other things (made an all-conference team, played a certain number of minutes).

Player has to re-up each year if they want to benefit from the NIL plan.
