I live in DFW. there are plenty of great cities around Dallas and FW.
I would not personally choose to live in Arlington and I think you can get a nicer home neighborhood Ward by aiming for either the North Dallas suburbs or north east Fort Worth suburbs.
If you want to between the two, I’d look along the arc of cities that goes up and around the airport to the north — colleyville, southlake, grapevine, coppell, carrolton + flower mound / Lewisville.
