Ms Underhill would dearly love to start driving again after a long pause and we hope the emerging CAS technology will reduce risks adequately--and I'm interested in CB's thoughts. Ms UH has MS and voluntarily stopped driving when infrequent cramps and muscle spasms in her foot and lower leg became a little too frequent; she worries she might cause (or not avoid) an accident if a cramp suddenly rendered her brake foot inoperable. She's an attentive, skilled driver otherwise and is only rarely afflicted with that kind of cramp or muscle spasm. Still, the risk-vs-benefit analysis currently says, "Don't drive anymore."
Now we're questioning whether improved CAS capabilities may have bumped the risk-vs-benefits analysis into "safe to drive in good conditions" territory.
So, what do you think of current and emerging CAS capabilities? Do you trust them? Are there drawbacks, limitations or failures outside of the rosy descriptions in the advertisements?
TIA for your thoughts.
