So I am not sure the point of the comparison. BYU has and will likely lose out on a lot of talent that wants to play for programs that have had a lot more success.

The comparison should be do kids want to play in a program where the coach recently came from the NBA, another college head coach, or an assistant college coach. I think between those three, the NBA assistant is a lot more appealing.
